The sun is out and summer is in full gear. Which shades are you wearing this season?

This month, we’re focusing our blog on how sunglasses (the right pair) can help protect the eyes from UV light. Choosing the best pair of sunglasses for you, with the appropriate protections, can help keep your eyes clear and healthy, with the added benefit of wrinkle prevention around the eyes. Lest we forget our absolute need for sunglasses to polish off the perfect summer look.

Tip #1

Check the labels for the level of UV Protection.

Go 100%, all day, every day. Your eyes demand 100% UV Protection, so don’t skimp in this area.

Tip #2

Darker lenses don’t protect your eyes better.

Don’t be fooled by tint. Refer to Tip #1. Check the label, choose 100% UV.

Tip #3

Polarized lenses cut glare—Not UV light. Sunglasses with polarized lenses are coated with a special chemical film to help reduce glares from the sun reflecting off of surfaces like water and pavement. Polarized lenses neutralize the sun’s reflective rays, but do not protect your eyes from UV rays.

Tip #4

Bigger lenses are better.

Thankfully oversized glasses have made a massive comeback over the last few years and the trend isn’t going anywhere. The beauty behind oversized sunglasses is that they cover more real estate on the face. This means, you’re getting full protection of your eyes and surrounding face (if you are opting for the advised 100% UV protection). Oversized glasses provide added coverage that can even help prevent wrinkles!
